Description
Mid 19th Century monumental French knockdown amoire / linen press. Made from a rich mahogany with brass boulle inlay and trim. Features a rectangular form case and crescent shaped crown with a flambeau and arrow crossed within a laurel wreath. The flaming torch is an ancient symbol of life, truth and the regenerative power of fire while the arrow signifies the ability to use force in the persuit of justice. The crown includes meticulously detailed boulle with rossettes, urns, floral wreaths and is gracefully placed between artichoke finials. The two large doors are lined with a brass lattice offering a transparency to the five interior shelves and 3 lockable drawers. The cabinet includes brass fluted columns and is supported by arrow feet. Drawing inspiration from Napoleon III, French Empire and Neoclassicism.
